| These
coal mine cars are familiar site, located along Illinois Route 9 near the
entrance to Mineral Springs Park. The sign located at the site reads
as follows: "This replica of a coal mine is dedicated to the immigrant families from Europe who worked in the coal mines within the present Pekin Park District. They furnished energy for our factories and heat for our homes. The work was dangerous, rigorous and their backbreaking efforts made this a great country. |
