| This boulder, located near Eureka College, commemorates a speech by Abraham Lincoln in 1835. The boulder is engraved "Lincoln Spoke Here," but in reality he spoke at a spot about 30 feet southeast of the boulder. The boulder is conveniently located a few feet from the street where it is accessible by the public. The actual spot at which Lincoln spoke was located in what for many years was the garden of a private home at the site. That spot was marked by nothing more than a tiny plain concrete slab, unengraved and flush with the ground. | |
