Alpha Community Bank Customers

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is Morton Community Bank?

Morton Community Bank (MCB) was established in 1960 as a locally-owned, hometown community bank. With the addition of Alpha Community Bank’s four offices to our family of banks, you will experience the financial strength & service of a 1.7 billion dollar financial institution and the convenience of 24 community banking offices with over 430 local employee-owners to service all your financial needs.

Will my deposit account(s) change?

Your account number will remain the same. Alpha Community Bank products will convert to MCB products for both checking and savings accounts. In most cases, MCB product conversion works favorably for the customer…such as a lower minimum balance to avoid a service charge. Certificate of Deposit terms remain the same. For your reference, we have included account conversion information and a Schedule of Services. Your friendly hometown banker is always available to answer any questions you may have.

Will there be any changes to my Direct Deposit or ACH?

Your direct deposit and automatic withdrawals will continue to process as they do currently.

Can I use my current checks until they are gone or will I receive new checks?

Yes! You may still use your current checks! When you are ready to re-order checks, we ask that you please contact your hometown banker to review a host of new and unique check styles from which to choose. You’ll especially like the “Community Spirit” style of checks…. scenes unique to each of our local communities. MCB is pleased to provide its own in-house “Hometown” check printing department with the ability to design a variety of styles…. a cheaper, faster, and safer alternative. (Your information never leaves the bank.) In addition, you will be offered a “special” on your first “Hometown” check re-order.

Will I receive a new ATM / Debit Card?

No. Effective September 8, your daily cash withdrawal limit is $500 and the daily limit for debit card transactions will be $1000 on your current card.

MCB is also a member of the Shazam ATM Network and is a participant in the Privilege Status Program which allows you to use other Shazam Privilege Status machines surcharge-free anywhere in the USA where the Privilege Status symbol appears on the ATM. Of course, your ATM card can be used at any ATM worldwide but is exempt from a surcharge fee at ATM’s displaying the Privilege Status symbol.

Will there be changes on my statement?

All checking and savings accounts will receive a cut-off statement as of Friday, September 5, 2008. Interest bearing accounts (other than Certificate of Deposits) will be paid interest through the date of the conversion. There will be no monthly service or maintenance fees assessed on this statement. After the September 5, 2008 cut-off statement, interest-bearing accounts will receive the balance of the September interest on their new Morton Community Bank statement. Your monthly checking account statement cycle will resume the next cycle. Savings statements are printed annually unless required more frequently based on transaction activity or the account is combined with a monthly checking statement. Please contact your favorite hometown banker if you would like to combine your savings statement with your checking account statement.

What about my Year-End Tax Reporting Forms?

At year end, deposit account holders may receive two IRS 1099-INT forms for interest earned, one from Alpha Community Bank (through conversion date of September 5) and one from Morton Community Bank (if interest is paid to you by MCB between September 6 and December 31).

What happens to my IRA?

Morton Community Bank will become the new custodian of all IRA plans as of September 5, 2008. These plans include Traditional, Roth, and Simplified Employee Pension (SEP) accounts. At year end, account holders will receive IRS forms (1099-R and 5498) for these accounts from Alpha Community Bank (through conversion date of September 5, 2008) and from Morton Community Bank (from September 5, 2008 forward).

Can I access my accounts by telephone or the internet?

Telephone: Alpha Community Bank’s Telephone Banking service will be discontinued as of close of business Friday, September 5th. Please see/call your friendly hometown banker for enrollment assistance with MCB Phone Home Telephone Banking and Internet Banking. Enrollment is quick and easy!

Internet: Alpha Community Bank’s Internet Banking service has been electronically converted to MCB’s Internet Banking and will be available to you on Sunday, September 7. Your Access ID will remain the same and your temporary password will be the last 6 digits of your social security number. This temporary password will be valid from September 7 through September 21. If you are unable to change your password by this time, please contact your friendly hometown banker to assist you with a new temporary password.

Be sure to pick up an Electronic Banking ‘Welcome’ packet at your hometown bank location.

Will I have Overdraft Protection?

Morton Community Bank offers a variety of overdraft protection options. Please contact your friendly hometown banker for details.

What are the daily cut-off times for receiving same-day credit on my deposits or payments?

All offices will have a daily cut-off of 2:00 pm. Transactions conducted after this time will be credited on the next day’s business.

Will there be changes in my Alpha Community Bank Credit Card?

Service for these accounts will remain the same until further notice.

Will my accounts continue to be FDIC insured?

Yes. Deposits in both banks are currently insured up to $100,000, or more, depending on how the account ownership is structured. If you have savings or checking accounts with both Alpha Community Bank and Morton Community Bank, each account in each bank will remain fully insured for an additional six-month grace period following the merger. Time Deposits (Certificates of Deposit) will be fully insured until the first maturity date after the six-month grace period. If maturity occurs within the six-month grace period, the certificate will continue to be covered until the next maturity, if renewed for the same dollar amount and the same term as the original deposit. For more information, contact your favorite hometown banker or call the FDIC toll-free at 1-877-ASK-FDIC (1-877-275-3342) or visit www.fdic.gov/deposit.
